[No Honor – 2]

I’m an extremely goal oriented dude. Everything I do has a purpose – I mean think about it – if what you do has no purpose, then why the hell are you wasting your time doing it in the first place? So, at any given moment I typically have a very long list of key actions set in front of me. I do have a large long term multifaceted objective that I have been working toward for several years now; but I don’t know you well enough to really go into that yet. So, maybe before we get into my story, we should break down a few things. Let’s start with ‘who’ you would have to be if you were me.

My Personal Rules of Engagement generally defined:

  1. Above all things you must strive to be the ‘gray man’ at every step along the way. People yap about this on survivalist forums, overly discuss the subject on travel sites about ‘tourist unfriendly environments,’ and even business people get training in this focus pattern, if they are planning on vacationing abroad, and have government clearances. Most non-megalomaniac Hollywood stars follow this concept so they can actually leave their house and do normal things without being noticed. The idea is simple. It is to become as ‘inconspicuous as possible’ by not standing out in a crowd. This isn’t analogous to being “off the grid” – we’ll talk about that at some point – but this is instead the simple idea of looking and acting like everyone else. The goal is to never be the person others remember for any reason.
  2. You have to possess the courage of your own convictions while remaining in control of your own mental and physical faculties. This sounds complicated, but it is really pretty easy.
  3. Finish what you set out to do and don’t back down for any reason. A wise little green dude once said “Do, or do not. There is no try.”
  4. You are the only one who is in actual control of your emotions and how you feel. No matter what you may think, other people do not make you ‘feel a certain way’ – only your own mind allows your emotions to make you feel the way you do. Therefore, only you can stop yourself from being emotionally challenged or modified by others. This also includes how you emotionally react to others – it is your own internal choice to react loudly, quietly, like a dick or totally-chill.
  5. Don’t get fat. You can’t run from the law if you’re fat. Simple as that. There is such a thing as an ‘engineer’s body’ i.e. what you get from sitting in front of a computer 18 hours a day eating ding-dongs – yeah don’t do that.
  6. You have to identify and understand your own physical limitations. For example: I can’t pose as a female. I have actually practiced this and decided it’s completely not worth it. I’m 5’10” and 165 pounds with curly hair and barely any facial hair, so I thought I could pull it off with a nice hair-do and the correct ‘twin-additions.’ But overall it just never seemed to make sense walking into a business wearing a dress and heels. Even if I went full Hollywood on an attempt and got the best makeup / wardrobe done, not only would I be drawing attention to myself in the preparation via the people I’d have to hire but I’d imagine it would be extremely difficult to be the ‘gray man’ as a lanky cross-dresser.
  7. However you should also know how to get around your physical limitations. I can’t pose as a female in person but I can perform an extremely convincing alto female voice on phone calls.
  8. You have to identify and understand your own technical limitations. I personally, don’t have any, which is my forte. But even if I don’t have previous knowledge of some technical item necessary, I will very quickly learn anything technologically needed for the success of the job. I do have advanced degrees in Computer Science and possess more practical application knowledge than 99.999% of the population of the world. However, if you aren’t a natural, you also need to identify that, be okay with it, and move on by doing what you are comfortable with. The job waits for nobody. Again, remember what the little green dude with the big ears said…

Finally you must also identify and understand your own moral limits and capabilities. These questions are quite matter-of-fact.

  1. Can you remove all financials from any one person, group, or business, no matter who they are or who they may represent? My answer: Yes.
  2. Can you fabricate on your feet to anyone about any subject, and if necessary keep a straight face no matter how ludicrous the content of the falsity? My answer: Yes.
  3. Can you kill if it keeps you from being caught? My answer:
    Yes.
